After determining that monkeys and humans share over 98% of their DNA, people have begun to wonder what rights near-Humanoid species should be legally entitled to. Now the California state legislature has deemed some monkey species to be elligible for legal person-hood.
Monkey species that can perform well on IQ tests can register to vote, buy medial marijuana and apply for driver's licenses. Some of details are yet to be worked out, for example, if monkeys can't speak or write how will we know who they are voting for and how can they pass the written part of the driver's test?
Motorists are not worried about "monkey business" on the highway since monkeys do not carry cells or drink while driving, they may be safer drivers than their human cousins.
