TAIPEI (Defense News Weakly) - A suspected Chinese ballistic missile facility located at Delingha in the central-northern part of the country has been revealed to actually be a termite colony instead.
Satellite imagery borrowed from Google Earth at first seemed to indicate that launch pads for older Dong Feng-4 intercontinental ballistic missiles (or ICBM's) were being upgraded to accommodate new DF-21 medium-range missiles, according to a recent report by the Nuclear Information Project for the Federation of American Scientists.
The fear was that Chinese strategic missile capability could then easily reach New Delhi, southern Siberia or US military bases in Afghanistan.
As it turns out, however, "someone" had accidentally zoomed in too close on a termite colony that merely resembled the Chinese facility. (That person wishes to remain anonymous but would like to apologize for scaring everyone.)
