Worldwide Animal Rights campaigners have been granted permission to let a Turkey run for President in the 2008 Election.
The Turkey, aptly-named Gobbles, will be up against current President George W. Bush. Bush yesterday met up with him just minutes after his place in the Presidential Run was confirmed. A spokesman told us: "Gobbles may be a Turkey, but his views on the war on terrorism are better than Bush's". He'd only been in the Election Candidates Line-up for 6 minutes, but seemed very promising already.
Gobbles is already receiving very mixed public reactions. Fan sites like www.poultrypresident.com are already filling up the internet, whilst Anti-Gobbles campaigners threaten to inform UK food chain Bernard Matthews that one of their Turkeys has escaped and has been mistaken for John Kerry.
2008 looks to be the most exciting Election year since Abraham Lincoln was in power. Will USA go Turkey, or will it go back to Bushwacking? Only time will tell.
