Animal rights activists were furious yesterday over the decision by an American fast food chain to introduce a range of 'endangered species burgers' including the McPanda, the McTiger and McRhino.
"This is a disgrace," said one protester yesterday, "These defenseless animals are being hunted down, ground into burgers and sold to children as happy meals."
Restaurant owner, Bob Lard told our reporter last night, "Look, these animals are fast disappearing and if we don't eat them now then we never will. Here, have a Eagle McNugget."
Although the moral implications of of eating endangered animals is still ambiguous, the move has been a big hit with the general public.
"My kids love coming here," said one punter, queueing up ouside an establishment in Manchester. "And with every happy meal they get a free plastic toy showing how the animal looked before they ate it."
