Jeddah, Saudi Arabia - A young Saudi bridgegroom who filed for divorce after less than ten minutes of marriage has appeared before a special Sharia court to explain his actions.
Speaking via a divorce lawyer Kamel al-Moussa explained the marriage had been arranged by a nuptial broker who promised a young, beautiful bride of noble lineage.
And a DNA certificate proving her age as a nubile 18.
The day he first met his beloved intended was his actual wedding day and suspicions quickly became aroused 'because of the reams of heavy veiling obscuring the bride'.
And a musty, sarcophagus-like whiff about her reminiscent of an embalmer's surgery.
Mr al-Moussa then asked his prospective father-in-law what proof he was providing that the lovely daughter Raghda was indeed 18 years old.
"You've seen the birth certificate," the old man replied, "what other proof could you possibly want?"
Just that moment the bride's veil suddenly fell away from her head revealing an old crone aged around 105.
After the briefest moment the young man said, "How about a radio carbon testing kit, Pa?"
