It's not surprising that many Americans woke up this morning shocked and dismayed to find out their health care had been taken away from them last night by the Republican-controlled House of Representatives. What is surprising is that many of them are ardent members of the Tea Party who were unwaveringly in favor of the repeal of the historic health care law.
"What the f-k?" Sam Bowerback of the Dallas-Fort Worth Tea Party said from his porch. "This means we got to pay for it ourselves now? That's bulls-t."
Tea Party activist Phil Achens of Cleveland, Ohio was also troubled by the repeal of so-called ObamaCare.
"I voted for these guys," he said. "I mean I believed in them and all, but I never thought they'd actually do it. Man, I am screwed."
Fellow Tea Party supporter, Shrim Phills of Meenersburg, Florida posted this on the group's website, where many members were gathering to share their fears:
"Hey this is what we wanted, guys. I just didn't know it meant my wife would be kicked off her insurance for having had breast cancer, and that my mother would be moving in with us because her prescription medications are skyrocketing. I guess it just goes to show you gotta be careful what you wish for. This totally sucks."
