Washington--Washington offered Israel $3 billion in military aid and will not support any United Nations resolution to recognize Palestine as a sovereign nation.
"We decided that the best way to get peace in the Middle East is to offer Israel lots of firepower to crush their enemies, and give the impression that Israel doesn't plan on expanding in the West Banks." President Obama told reporters.
The Palestinians aren't happy about the deal. They think it is uncalled for, because the deal means that Israel gets everything they wanted and more.
"You can tell the United States doesn't want to see Palestine become a sovereign state, but yet they act like what they are doing is really helping us in the long term." President Mahmoud Abbas said to reporters. "I just wish they would just stop helping with the peace process because it isn't helping us one bit."
Hilary Clinton is on record saying the peace in the Middle East is as likely as government sponsored health care in the United States, but peace in the Middle East is more likely if she keeps working on it.
