A Florida pensioner who accidentally shot his wife was actually practising method acting, it emerged today.
Arnold Morris, 77 and his wife Patricia, 72, were rehearsing what to do in the event they were mugged at their Cocoa Beach home, when he shot her.
Although police decided the incident was an accident, it emerged that the couple were disciples of the "the Method" - an intense style of acting taught at institutions like the Actors' Studio.
Muttered Arnold. "Yeah... s'right. Pat'n'me... wull, y'know (indecipherable)... had to make it real's possible. So, we used live ammo and ... (indecipherable)... squeezed the trigger. Dam' gun went off...
"Ain't no tellin'... (indecipherable)... some bastard's gonna rip y'off...
"Never meant no harm. She's gonna be OK..."
A friend said: "Arnold is a great fan of Stanislavski and he tried to get into the Lee Strasberg Institute years ago. His DVD collection is full of Montgomery Clift and Marlon Brando stuff."
Patricia is expected to survive following surgery.
