NEW YORK, NY - Mayor Bloomberg has agreed to a creative solution to deter terrorists threats through the installation of a number of portable mini-mosques positioned at strategic locations throughout the city.
The structures, to be built in the shape of minarets, will be about the size of tall telephone booths and contain a copy of the Koran.
Positioned East toward Mecca, the mini-mosques will be located on strategic street corners selected by the NYPD such as Times Square, Wall Street and Rockefeller Center.
The mayor hopes that they will be utilized by both local and Muslim tourists for their daily prayers and as a way to introduce their faith to other religions around the city.
The plan is aimed at reducing targets of opportunity by having the portable mini-mosques positioned in the middle of possible iconic targets, thus reducing incentives for an attack.
