A Kentucky man high on marijuana and drunk on whiskey put his 5-week-old son in the oven Sunday and left him there overnight, according to locals.
Police were called to the house after neighbours raised the alarm on hearing raised voices and doors being slammed.
Officers arrived at the premises to find the parents of the baby arguing over the circumstances, however, alarmingly, not as one might think.
The Kentucky man was trying to assure his missus that he followed her fried chicken cooking instructions exactly, as she was screaming: "I would never tell you to put our baby in the oven like fried chicken. NEVER!"
Upon further questioning she admitted, "I never said cook him like fried chicken, I said cook him like meringue, and how do he expect the baby to rise when "not only did you leave the door slightly ajar the oven was not even turned on."
Both were given a slap on the wrist and banned from putting their baby in the oven for 12 months.
