Palin Says Afghan Withdrawal Timetable "Artificial", Could Prevent US Chances of Quitting Sooner

Wasilla, AL - In a Facebook posting former Alaska governor Sarah Palin called Barack Obama's timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan "artificial", saying that the timetable could prevent a US victory and make it harder for the US to quit before the scheduled withdrawal.

"I think we can all agree that our troops are the best in the world and if we give them an artificial deadline how can we expect them to delivery victory to Afghanistan?" Palin asked.

Unlike most Republican commentators, Palin is not so concerned with withdrawing too early as staying longer than is necessary.

"Like our troops in Afghanistan, I fought a number of battles in the trenches of Alaska. The state put an artificial timetable called a "term" that said I had to do all the work in four years. But I told them, 'thank you, but no thank you'. I could get the job done in two and a half years. Obama says he wants the troops home, but even if they get done early he'll make them stay in Afghanistan until summer 2011 at least," Palin said.

Palin, who resigned from the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in 2004 after only a year, from the governor's office in July 2009, and quit the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot 5k in Kennewick, Washington, said she has never gone the whole nine yards when doing less is acceptable.

"One of my philosophies on life is to work smarter, not harder," Palin concluded.
