Abraham Lincoln was the first president to have his picture taken. The widely distributed photograph created the first presidential image consultant of the modern era. A little girl, whose suggestion that he would look better that way, led him to grew his famous beard.
Now President Obama has taken a page out of history, and has decided to do an image upgrade of his own. He's growing a "Fro" at the suggestion by a girl named Sally Humphreys, who wrote it on Obama's Farcebook wall as a lark. It was taken to heart by the president, who has a noted sensitivity about the size of his ears.
Mr. Obama's new hair style has indeed done the trick. The puffy "Fro" has taken attention away from his ears so that they don't stand out as much as they used to.
A "Fro" is not easy to grow, and is hard to maintain, but Obama has been working on it for several months now. The results are starting to show and the style has spread to other members of the administration. Most notably Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, and Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, whose impressive new "Doo" was instrumental in re-igniting negotiations between the United States and North Korea.
President Obama says he plans on maintaining the new hairstyle, over the mild protests of his wife, and members of the opposition, who now say he looks like one of the cast members of a Blaxploitation film from the seventies. However, plans to re-do his official presidential portrait are on hold for the moment.
