Greenbelt MD: Space scientists and engineers have stared at Mars ever since Galileo first saw the red planet in 1610. The nagging question always has been, was there ever intelligent life on Mars?
Commencing in the late twentieth century NASA became traumatized over this question. NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center took the lead to find an answer by employing astronomers, scientists and engineers to develop technical equipment to explore Mars from near and afar. All NASA centers participated.
The Hubble Space Telescope, Mars orbiters and Mars Landers began to build a body of knowledge that the currently desolate planet Mars once had an advanced civilization. Then the speculation became as to what destroyed this civilization?
The first Earth to Mars manned space flight landed in 2030. This initial landing and subsequent visits to other parts of Mars found valuable artifacts that answered why the Martian civilization disappeared. This Martian historical information, as well as technical advancements remained classified for many years.
Martian history relates that the planet had a Congress, Governmental Agencies, Insurance Agents, Real Estate Agents, Bankers, Brokers, Financial Managers, Lawyers, CPAs and other large organizations. These Martian entities generated vast amounts of paper work, with lots of fine print, to confuse ordinary Mars folk. Billions and billions of trees were used to make paper to generate these voluminous tomes.
The Martian tree rights advocacy groups complained about saving the trees and all the entities switched to computers. But computers required large electrical energy consumption measured in billions of kilowatt hours. The Martian environmental advocacy groups succeeded in banning coal fired and nuclear generation of electricity, while pushing only "red energy." Then the lights went out!
Furthermore, Martian warming supposedly caused by Carbon Dioxide (CO2), led to all kinds of asinine laws. The name of the Martian responsible for these restrictions is unpronounceable in English as "PV La Ogre." It is plausible that this lack of CO2 caused the Martian atmosphere to become thin and unable to sustain any life.
Fortunately, the Martians had developed wormhole technology, prior to their ultimate disappearance. NASA scientists and engineers secretly worked on Project EXODUS. This program established Wormhole Transportation Equipment at the Goddard Space Flight Center and the other nine NASA centers in the USA.
In 2050, 300 million ordinary American citizens quietly slipped away to another blue planet in a Galaxy far, far away. No forwarding address was left for the remaining 50 million US entity inhabitants and advocacy group members, left behind.
