Even Americans who have been driving fuel efficient cars all along will be footing the bill in the government's 'cash for clunkers' program, according to every known source.
The government program allows up to $6500 for each gas guzzling vehicle turned into auto dealerships but only for people who have been doing the most polluting and drive vehicles manufactured after 1984. Any car made before 1984 is considered a 'classic' or antique vehicle and is not supported by the program regardless of how much gas it guzzles.
"I just traded in my crappy, dented '85 Corvette for a brand new Prius and it cost me less than a grand after all the rebates and shit", said former guzzler Ralph Stetson. "Thank you Uncle Sam!"
Many taxpayers have been unaware that they have been paying for other peoples cars.
President Barack Obama defended the program saying it was necessary for taxpayers to pay for the cars as it boosts the nation's auto industry. "Too much time and money has been going to the poor. This program will help benefit the people in our country who are already wealthy" Obama stated.
The Cash for Clunkers program is geared toward those who have money and have been the least affected by the economic downturn.
"Some day we will have a program that will enable poor people to buy cars", Obama promised.
