Controversy swirled as America's first Black president contemplated the faxing a wreath to the tomb of the unknown racist soldiers who valiantly died in service to a cause just about equal to genocide.
Human rights advocates begged Obama to leave the gravesite unadorned with a presidential memorial this Memorial day. Southerners of a different stripe, the ones that cross each other on a field of red, watched carefully to see if their cause would go neglected by the "nigra President".
Obama ceremoniously visitec the Arlington cemetery tomb of the Unknown Soldier as many of his predecessors have. He set a new tradition as he telexed a wreath to the statue of the black patriots in a neighborhood in DC that he deemed too dangerous to visit in person.
And then the cklock ticked as all waited to see if a wreath would arrive at the Confederate Memorial... Sho nuff one did...a fine display of southern magnolias was delivered to the honorary tomb with the words engraved upon a black, yellow and red ribbon reading:
"To the Confederacy's Dead, May You Always Be Remembered Just as You Are"
