Zombies have overrun Washington DC. They appear to be normal people, but their ridicules behavior is apparent to anyone who pays attention to politics. Their actions may be the cause of a tiny insect that has been introduced to the United States by scientists trying to control fire ants in the southwestern states.
The tiny phorid fly controls fire ant populations in Central America. The fly seems to attack the ants and lay eggs on their heads. When the eggs hatch, the tiny insects eat into the brain of the ants. The ants wander until the brain is virtually eaten away, and eventually the ants head falls off, the poor ant dies.
American politicians seem to follow a similar pattern, with a few exceptions. Is it possible that there is a variety of phorid fly that attacks only politicians? The eggs hatch, and the tiny insects chomp the brains of the hapless lawmakers. Then, the infected public servants suffer an unconquerable urge to stick their heads up their butts. The jury is still out, however this explanation is as likely as any other.
