Home to ultra conservative overweight men and house fraus alike, Guilderland, NY was recently voted by TheSpoof Magazine as the "Un-Funniest City in America". After a nationwide search which included Peoria Illinois, Des Moines Iowa, and Fargo North Dakota as finalists, Guilderland swept the voting beating all other cities by a two to one margin.
Using a rating scale which included such factors as unfunny headlines from local newspapers, the fewest Coen brothers videos sold, the limited number of registered Democrats, the fewest condoms sold per capita, and the fewest number of comedy clubs within a 50 mile radius, Guilderland won the competition hands down.
Responding to the negative press, Guilderland's city leadership was quoted as saying, "There's simply nothing wrong with being serious about life, our people, and our town. Life is a serious business; you have to take it seriously. I'm serious."
Acting as the lone comedic voice in the region, Warren Bluelich strongly believes in the first amendment as well as his right to poke fun of everyone and everything. "There's nothing wrong with a little spoof now and again, it is America after all. Even God has a sense of humor or have you never seen a platypus? Besides, these people are like the walking dead. I have to drive to Schenectady to get a laugh once in a while, and that should tell you how bad it is here."
Asked about Mr. Bluelich specifically, Herman Heckler the city's chief spokesman said, "Warren really isn't that funny and his efforts are simply not appreciated here." Bluelich had confronted Heckler once before asking if he had ever laughed, ever. Heckler responded, "I have no sense of humor that I'm aware of".
Bluelich responded, "True, that".
