Houston - Southwest Airlines is going for blood, perhaps in more ways than one. The innovative airline announced today that beginning in 2009 the airline will no longer have regular pilots or crew. Instead they will call for volunteers from the ranks of the passengers before each flight.
"We need more cost savings to continue burying our competition. We are not firing our regular pilots and crew, rather, we are giving them all extended leave until we have completly anihalated the competition, which we expect will take only a couple of weeks," said a Southwest spokesperson, "We have virtual automated systems that are very reliable now. We believe the odds of a volunteer crashing a plane to be only 30 percent, we can live with that."
Unfortunately about 30 percent of the passengers brave enough to fly Southwest in January might not live to tell the story!
