Stung by criticism that he is not black enough, Barack Obama has released a new rap single. Although the lyrics have been kept a closely guarded secret, this website has been given a copy and can reveal the first few verses:
- My name is Barack,
I opposed the president on Iraq,
I want to give the republicans the sack,
I want US foreign policy to massively change tack.
[Chorus: Obama, Obama, I've got good karma, Obama, Obama, vote for me]
My name is Obama,
Which is a bit like Osama,
But I'm not Bin Laden,
A name which if you think about it,sounds like a dustman.
[Chorus:Obama, Obama, I'm a democrat, Obama, Obama, did you dig that]
My name is Obama,
Electorally, Hillary I'll harm her,
I'm so credible it's a gas,
Disagree? you can kiss my gravit-ass.
[Chorus: etc, etc - you get the picture]
Established rap acts have dismissed the whole exercise as a tawdry PR stunt. Right wing intellectual, Fifty Cent, was cutting: "This is rap with a silent C. This is a hit with a silent S."
In response, Hillary Clinton is due to release a cover of Tammy Wynette's "Stand by your man"
