Los Angeles, California - Proving once again that super liberal true believers like Rosie O'Donnell can dish it out but cannot take it, Berry Manilow announced he canceled his scheduled appearance on The View once he discovered there was a conservative, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, co-hosting the show. Apparently, Manilow had been living under a rock for the past couple of years and did not know Hasselbeck was a conservative, or is he attempting to revive his decades old career and promote his new CD, just released, by generating a little controversy?
Fearful to put to the test the Funding Fathers belief that open discourse and especially dissent is actually not only healthy for a democracy but vital to its existence, Manilow opted instead to pull a Rosie and bailed out of what would have been an exercise of democracy in action -- Who does he think he is, Arnold Schwarzenegger?
Manilow refused to appear on the show labeling Hasselbeck opposing conservative views as dangerous, and the reason for his cancellation.
Ironic, don't you think? What's the matter Manilow, late for your book burning? What's the old axiom, 'God save us from true believers?' Let us add then the caveat, 'Both liberal and conservative alike.'
