Destined for spare parts: Murkowski's former pride and joy

Valdez, Alaska - (Ass Mess): The $2.7 million private jet that former Alaskan governor Frank H Murkowski swindled out of state funds in 2005 for his own hubristic pleasures was finally sold today on eBay, realising $2.1 million as scrap.

The state-owned Westwind II jet was once Murkowski's pride and joy despite the fiercesome haggling that it took the governor to finance its purchase, including leaning on the Homeland Insecurity Department on the spurious grounds that it would "defend, deter or defeat opposition forces."

Alaska's new governor, Sarah 'Barracuda' Palin ordered its sale last December and accepted the $600,00 loss on the plane as a small price to pay for the victory of a very public humiliation for her punch-drunk egomaniac predecessor.

A Valdez businessman, Larry Reynolds, who paid $2.1 million this week for the plane, has said he is planning on using it for spare parts for his fledgeling local commercial airline company.

"Some of the customised fixtures and fittings will have to go of course," Reynolds said, "including the listening devices planted by the Feds that helped nail VECO's Bill Allen and Rick Smith in the Corrupt Bastards Club investigation that has also busted Bruce Weyhrauch, Pete Kott and Vic Kohring."

Senator Ted Stevens is apoplectic.
