The Miss Black America beauty pageant reports that only 49 of the 50 states are represented in it. As in every year this pageant has been held, there is no Miss Black Idaho. Pageant coordinator Sleazette Jones blamed this on the contestants' fluency in Ebonics, that pseudo-gibberish dialect sometimes known as "Black English."
"None of the contestants were willing to wear the sash that says 'I da ho'." said Jones. "You might have to say that out loud, to understand why."
This reporter commented that it must be a major disappointment to the black people of Idaho not to be represented here. Pageant Security Manager Leroy "Bubba" Washington replied, "Disappointment? All I know 'bout dat is dis. My Parole Officer say if I miss disappointment, he gonna send my black ass back to de joint. So I be showin' up fo dat, fo sho."
As no interpreter was available, the meaning of Mr. Washington's remarks was unknown at press time.
