image for Bush Declares Victory in American Civil War
"Mission Accomplished"

In an action reminiscent of his theatrical landing on an aircraft carrier in 2003 and declaring "mission accomplished", President Bush again donned a flight suit and declared an end - to the American Civil War!

Reporters gathered on the south lawn of the White House and waited excitedly for the president's appearance. After waiting for an extensive period of time and sweating in the mid June humidity of Washington, D.C., President Bush appeared in fighter pilot regalia.

"I'm here to tell America and the world, that the War Between the States, this Civil War, has come to an end. General Lee has surrendered unconditionally. Mission accomplished!"
