Yes, the times indeed are changing, even among such staunch defenders of tradition as the Amish.
At a recent convention of Amish leaders, held in Las Vegas, a number of changes were made. The elders voted to allow the faithful to use battery operated devices. Alternating current, however, is still forbidden. Sabbath activities were also altered. The Amish are now allowed to do some work on Sunday, but are forbidden to do any work for which they will be paid
The most surprising change has to do with the modesty of women's dress. Women's standards of dress have been completely relaxed. Revealing, even sexually provocative attire is now permissible, under the new rules.
