WASHINGTON D.C.-President Bush today signed a bill which had been approved by both houses of congress unanimously last month that legally changes the name of New Mexico to Slightly Used Mexico.

"The American government feels that, based on its past performance, New Mexico hasn't really done that much, and it isn't in the greatest of shape right now." Said President Bush when asked on the reasoning behind the bill. "I mean, look at the place. It's really gone to hell, what with it being nothing but deserts and all. Plus, the blue book value on the state has really plunged in the last few years. As a whole, we're pretty disappointed with the state, and if it doesn't start giving us a better bang for our buck, the United States is going to have to look into selling it off."

Citing long time disappointments with the state, Congress and the President both noted that it was nothing but ‘Indian wasteland' and that they didn't think anything could be done to reverse the negative opinion about the state as a whole.

New Hampshire has been a little more than nervous as well since the bill passed, working to clean up its act, lest the powers that be decide to throw it among the scrap heap of junk states along with Slightly Used Mexico, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota and Maine.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
