Jalapeños, the Mexican left-wing political party has demanded better human rights for the peppers of the world. Their radical suggestion is that peppers should be allowed to vote in elections to gain a fair representation of the country's political persuasion.
Sceptics have suggested the Jalapeños' links with the Mexican mafia, of which many members are peppers, is their only motivation for the campaign.
The Jalapeño party has not been in power since 1938 and their leadership was cut short in the 1940 coup. From then on, the Jalapeños have slowly built up strong ties with peppers. In a recent opinion poll 96% of peppers said the Jalapeños would be their party of choice.
The country will vote on the motion in late October.
