The White House. Washington, D.C. Following an announcement by the Iranian government regarding the apprehension of 17 American CIA spies, President Donald Trump emphatically denied the charge, saying "The United States has no spies in Iran."
Nancy Pelosi, chief spokeswoman for the opposition Democratic party and speaker of the House of Representatives, immediately responded to the president's denial. "If there are no American spies in Iran, the president ought to be impeached for dereliction of duty. We're on the brink of war with the Iranian Republican Guard, and there's no one in Iran watching for us?"
Attorney General William Barr came to the president's aid. "The president is technically correct. All of our guys in Iran are doing 'surveillance' work. We stopped having spies after I blundered in a congressional hearing, and said our FBI was spying on the Trump 2016 campaign organization. Now we are only into surveillance."
The president may be correct for another reason: they've all been caught!
