Albany NY: Authorities are fuming over a New York resident who's making periodic trips to Canada for a nerve block to cause leg paralysis.
Chief O'Brien said; "He's gaming the system. We take improper use of handicap placards very seriously in this state. Only the truly handicapped and politicians are allowed to use them. This guy found a loophole by medically paralyzing himself every 3 months just so he can get the good parking spots!"
The man responsible for the brouhaha rather enjoys the fruits of his endeavors. While not giving his name he did grant a brief statement:
"Every 3 months I go to a doctor in Canada for a neurotomy. Keeps me nice and cripple for about 7-9 weeks. The law says nothing about how you get in a wheelchair- just that you are in one and paralyzed- so sue me... oops forgot- you can't suckers! Now if you'll excuse me I've got to wheel myself 3 feet over to that restaurant entrance...."
