Washington, DC "Because so many of our people are now unemployed, we felt that since we have Labor Day for our workers, we should have a holiday for our unemployed as well," spoke President Obama at a news conference in the East Room.
Obama went on to say that since the massive unemployment and the recession began under the corporation-loving President George W. Bush, the new holiday would be celebrated on July 6, Bush's birthday.
Also under consideration is a holiday for the working poor, who try to make ends meet on minimum wage jobs. This holiday would be held on November 17, Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner's birthday. The holiday would be called "Boner Day" since it is easier to spell than "Boehner" and most spell-checkers change it to boner anyways.
