Washington DC-Florida judge Alex Ferrer, the host of the syndicated courtroom TV show Judge Alex, is purportedly talking to representatives of President Barack Obama and House of Representatives Speak John Boehner about hearing the lawsuit which the House has filed against President Obama on his TV show.
Unlike the typical cases featured on Judge Alex, which range from a dispute over an automobile purchase between family members to a dispute involving public relations work for a beard contest, the case of Boehner vs. Obama involves Boehner's claims that President Obama abused the powers of his office because Congress and not the President of the United States makes the laws, House Republicans state. Most of the abuses of presidential power involve the Affordable Care Act, they add.
Democrats in the House, none of whom voted for the lawsuit against President Obama, are claiming that the lawsuit is a step in the process of impeaching the President.
Sources close to House Democrats, House Republicans and President Obama have thus sought to avoid a lawsuit in federal court by hearing it in another venue. According to one source who did not want to be named, Judge Judy's calendar was full for the next several months-through the time of the midterm elections for the House of Representatives. The same was true with Judge Marilyn Milian and her show The People's Court.
Sources close to Ferrer noted that he saw an opportunity to make history both for the United States and for himself. "I know that what I do might be deemed unconstitutional by the United States District Court, the Circuit Courts of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court and maybe some other courts in-between, but their activities are rarely followed day in and day out," Ferrer is purportedly to have said. "Those courts are dullsville compared to what you'll get on a typical episode of Judge Alex with me and Mason C. Burroughs, our bailiff. Be sure to tune in when Speaker Boehner and President Obama duke it out on a very special Judge Alex!"
