Omaha, Nebraska- Recently, Christie Randall, a mother of 9th grade cheerleader decided to circle the parking lot praying for an open spot. "I just thought that maybe, just maybe, there would be an opening today," Christie said with a stressed look.
This event took place at the popular Elite Cheer Camp in the heart of Omaha. These Cheer teams meet 3 times a week from 4:00-6:30, and many mothers will camp out in their spots starting anywhere between 1:00 to 3:00 o'clock in the afternoon. "Honestly, you have a better chance of getting a kidney than getting a spot here," a very happy mother stated from the inside of her parked car. Elite cheer camp is notorious for their lack of parking. Many locals make the joke that if their cheerleaders were as competitive as their parking mothers were,they would actually win something.
According to many sources, Christie failed at finding a spot after circling numerous times. Eventually, like the majority of other mothers, she retreated to the vacant lot across the street and made her daughter cross the street separating the lots. "My perseverance will prevail eventually, I think... I hope; all that matters is that my daughter gets to practice on time," a defeated Christie stated.
