The United States failed to make a payment of a piece of cloth and a beaver skin to The Seneca Nation and now must turn over Manhattan Island to the tribe.
"At first we thought it was just a clerical error," said a spokesman from the Department of the Interior, "But then we realized, the United States is broke."
Failure of the US to make the annual payment, voided the 1794 Treaty of Canandaigua and as a result, Manhattan must be turned back over to the Indian tribe.
The tribe is in the process of issuing eviction notices to the 4.35 million residents of Manhattan while chanting: "Yankee Go Home!"
The US plans to relocate the Manhattan residents to an offshore island of refuse that is floating across "the pond" towards Great Britain.
