Lake Geneva, Wis--Charlotte the deer is going to live. She won't be facing the death penalty that was the judgement the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources gave her.
"We were going to be sneaky about it, but Marvin Graaf whined to the media and than everybody knew what kind of special Grinch the DNR can be at Christmas time. This deer was born in a Chronic Wasting Disease area and we fear she might be taken on family vacations to an area that doesn't have CWD." A DNR spokesman said.
Mr. Graaf thought he was just doing the right thing and helping a deer survive after it's mother was killed, but he soon out that being a good guy meant going to jail for eight months and paying a $2,000 fine.
"I did try to do the right thing, but the DNR wanted to make my Christmas horrible by senselessly killing Charlotte." Mr. Graaf said.
Charlotte will live and get to see Christmas day, but where she will spend Christmas next year hasn't been hammered out yet.
