A bid by Manchester Utd fans to get the 1985 Paul Harcastle Hit Nineteen to the top of the charts has been branded "sick."
Fans are being urged to download the track to celebrate Utd's 19th league title. They need a point from their remaining two games, against Blackburn and Blackpool, to be mathematically confirmed champions and go one title ahead of Liverpool.
Mr Hardcastle, a Chelsea supporter, has apparently given his blessing, but has asked his record label to donate his royalties to charity.
But the bid has been dismissed as "sick" by one expert.
"Typical f*****g sick Mancs," said Dave Blather, a pop historian. "Everyone who listens to the bloody song knows it's about the average age of the American lads who were killed in Vietnam.
"It's not some celebration.
"How f*****g tastless can those f*****g Mancs get.
"Liverpool would never have done it."
