Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith's incredible claim that we want to work beyond the age of 65 is merely a watered-down version of his beliefs, it can be revealed.
A source claiming to be from inside the Smith circle showed EIF News & Features a document she alleges was written by IDS late last year.
In it he insists on the need to persuade people they want to work beyond the traditional retirement age of 65, and that if they're going to make people work longer, we need to make them believe they want to.
"And why stop at the old folks? Let's get 'em young! There are too many slobs and plebs and chavvy types being educated at the Government's expense. So, lower the age they can go to work!
"In fact, let's make the plebs work forever! It's all they're good for."
The document concludes that it could be difficult policy, but with skilful positioning re-cuts and belt-tightening, the authors believe it could be "a winner".
