Hospitals around the country were again reporting cases of exploding heads today as coverage of TV talent show The X Factor continued in the British press.
Leeds General Infirmary reported three cases before 8.30am, Charing Cross in West London had a full A&E department by 8am and similar pictures were reported throughout Britain.
Victim's wife, Mrs Cynthia Handle, of Manston, Leeds, said her husband, Lawrence, was reading the Daily Telegraph at the kitchen table when he started to show symptoms.
"He started grumbling almost at once," she said: "'Look at this - the bloody show finished on Sunday and even the Telegraph's still banging on about it! I suppose it'll be the bloody same in the Yorkshire Post!'
"He was right - it was in the Post too. His head just went pop and I called the ambulance.
"It's very upsetting - we've been avoiding ITV on Saturdays and Sundays for months. We had hoped it was finally over, but it seems the papers can't help themselves... even the Telegraph."
