In a bid to save money navigation equipment is being removed from all RAF aircraft and navigators being offered redundancy as the Government announces all aircraft are to be fitted with Sat Nav.
An official explained that pilots can be trained to use the Sat Nav in just a few hours whereas navigators take years and thousands of pounds to train.
The Sat Nav needs no expensive fitting as it will stick to the cockpit window; though pilots have been told to remove it when they park the plane.
Replying to leaked documents that claimed that aircraft using the Sat Nav had landed in rivers and landed in roads miles from an airport, a spokesperson said, "As long as they type in the postcode of the airfield correctly they should have no problem".
