Confusion surrounded the arrest yesterday of noted TheSpoof.com writer MattHatt, after he was found snooping around a boy's bedroom in Stoke-on-Trent, supposedly "looking for a story".
Hatt, 81, told detectives at the home of Mrs Karen Low-Cal, that he had been hanging around her son's bedroom to catch a glimpse of another Spoof writer, Monkey Woods, who had written several recent stories concerning various items that had been found under the child's bed.
These included a mucky book, an impala and an atom bomb, and Hatt had also reported that Woods, himself, had been discovered lurking underneath the bed, and had written a piece on it.
Lte last night though, Staffordshire police, armed with guns made from pottery, surrounded the address and eventually led away Hatt for questioning, after his story was deemed 'better' than that of Woods.
Mrs Low-Cal, 46, said:
"I just don't know what's going to happen next in this crazy saga!"
