Police confirmed earlier today that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of the British M16 agent, Gareth Williams, who was found dead in his Pimlico flat last week, after being stuffed into a sports bag.
We have learned that the suspect, who is currently being questioned by police, is none other than Mary Bale, a bank worker from Coventry who was herself the subject of a sensational news story last week, when she was filmed putting a cat into a wheelie bin.
Police have confirmed that they have arrested a 45 year old woman from Coventry in connection with the murder of Mr Gareth Williams and that she is currently 'helping them with their enquiries.'
Mrs. Bale's solicitor has released a statement from his client:
'I really don't see what everyone is getting so excited about. I thought it would be funny to stuff a grown man into a sports bag and imagined that he would simply wriggle out given sufficient time. I believe that, just like the cat incident, people are over-reacting at my simple moment of madness.
There was not this much fuss when I put a hamster in the micro-wave, or a rabbit in the washing machine or even when I put that toddler in the wheelie bin when I was on holiday in Portugal.'
Police are continuing with their investigations.
