It was supposed to be just a visit to the shops to buy a loaf of bread but 66 year old Gillian Duffy today became embroiled in a media frenzy after a chance encounter with the Prime Minister in Rochdale.
Gillian was politeness itself as she questioned Gordon Brown about the number of East Europeans free loading on UK welfare benefits.
However it was Gillian's reaction off camera that suddenly became the story of the election.
Unaware that she was still under media surveillance, she gave vent to her true feelings about her encounter with the Prime Minister as she muttered to herself whilst shopping in her local Co-op.
"The Man is nothing more than a two faced prat.
Who the hell ever put him into a position of power?
Says one thing to your face and another to his mates" were some of the comments she was heard to make as she wandered up and down the aisles with her shopping bag.
When asked by if she felt she should apologise for her remarks to the most powerful man in UK, she gave this succinct reply before carrying on with her everyday life
"He's not getting my vote:- Bollocks to him"
