A collective donation redeems footballers

Premiership footballers across the UK were today applauded by the nation as they each gave a whole weeks wages to the charity Sport Relief.

The generous donation, which was handed over by John Terry and Ashley Cole, totalled almost £50 million, tripling the total raised by the public.

A spokesman said, "Footballers get a lot of stick for earning too much money, and deep down we all know it's a messed up system when a cancer nurse gets a pittance compared to someone who's good at kicking a ball. As this event is Sport Relief we thought it only right that the most highly paid sportsmen in the land donated just under 2% of their annual wage."

Since the move the public have allowed Ashley Cole and John Terry to feel a little less shamed.

This is a fictitious news story, but wouldn't it be good if it happened?
