Merseyside - (Rotters): Media reports that Jon Venables is to be given a second post-jail ID by worried Prison Department officials will bring the total of his identities since birth to four.
Like his former accomplice in crime Robert Thompson the DNA of Venables' birth parents was so controversial that 99% of official records were immediately erased before a covert 'adoption' via rogue social workers.
The tots were both slipped into the respective Venables and Thompson families in a maverick move that also aimed to reinvent the families' battered domestic profiles.
"We have evidence the lads soon found out who they really were and this probably sent them bonkers," a youth offenders program source said today.
Their ID number three came in 2001 when the young killers were released on licence as 'John Smith' and 'David Brown.'
"Of course that's now a disaster as Venables' cover's been blown," parole officer Bob Grey said today.
"Maybe 'John Smith' might consider a sex change op after this latest stretch. How does the name Gladys Honeypot appeal?"
Venables' post-youth jail ID became his third as Home Office honchose struggled to come to terms with original pedigree.
