Footballer Ashley Cole says he feared for his ring after burglars entered his property and tried to take it by force.
A terrified Cole, who was unable to run due to a broken ankle, wriggled on the ground towards his telephone while burglars ransacked the room looking for his ring.
The thieves are believed to have entered via the back passage of The Cole mansion after the rear entry was left unlocked by a member of staff.
His wife, Cheryl Cole was not in the property at the time, but in a statement to the press stated that as far as she was aware her husbands ring was intact and that no-one had ever got their hands on her ring in the past.
A clearly relieved Ashley later slipped his finger into his ring over an intimate dinner with wife.
Cheryl's ring is insured for 2 million.
