A local sailor has described his delight at having one of his idea's chosen for those cutesy 'Love is…' cartoon's in daily newspapers and tacky greeting cards.
Pirate Pete, 56, entered a competition to select what stupid crappy 'Love is…' cartoon would appear in this months papers.
"Yarrr! I'm a sailorin' man I am, and sailorin's whats I do. So I puts down me thoughts, so I did, on a piece of yonder parchment and popped 'er in a bottle and slung 'er overboard the Jolly Rodger, Yarrrr!", he said.
The bottle eventually ended up on the desk of the competition judge who thought that it was the perfect choice for a winner.
"'Love is ..Fleeting' is such a beautiful phrase to use", said the judge, "you can really sense the love Mr. Pirate Pete has for his fleet of ships and that whole romantic notion of the life at sea".
The artist is already hard at work drawing a sickeningly adorable picture of naked cherub's embracing aboard a fleet of pirate ships that are about to go - as Pirate Pete would say - "a plunderin'"
Upon viewing an early draft, Pirate Pete gave a hearty "Yarr!" and then sang a little sea shanty with Joy - 'Joy' being his musical parrot's name.
