The elderly female presenter Anne Robinson has branded television in the UK as sexist and ageist.
"If a woman in her sixties wanted a job presenting a program like Watchdog, she wouldn't get it" said the new Watchdog presenter. "If a young attractive blonde had my experience and wit I would be out the door straight away" said the presenter, stating the obvious.
Robinson has forged a highly successful career portraying a mean, nasty old battleaxe. The 'Queen of Mean' now returns to hosting a consumer rights program. There are fears that her style might be a little too abrasive for Watchdog.
A pilot episode was given a secret screening. In the episode Robinson is seen telling a man owed thousands of pounds by a telecoms company to "get a grip you loser." Next she talks to a timeshare fraud victim and calls her "thick as two short planks."
Julia Bradbury, a much younger and more attractive presenter has been removed from the show. There are still issues regarding an air mile account. It was felt that she was the weakest link. Robinson may also be seeking to vote off Anita Rani.
Meanwhile Queen Elizabeth II is to appear on 'Cash In The Attic' in a bid to raise some much needed funds for a holiday.
