A hideously ugly radio DJ was mistakenly hired to present a daytime chat show.
Thomas 'DJ Tommo' Thomas, 46, from Bournemouth was supposed to be one of those 'seen but not heard' type presenters but a mix-up with the rosters at the BBC meant that he was instead transferred from the radio department to the television studios.
"I knew something was wrong when he first walked through the doors. He had a fantastic big booming mid-Atlantic voice but he had a head like a bag of spanners", said the makeup girl who had the impossible job of getting him ready for going on air.
Within just a few minutes of the show's start, complaints began flooding in from terrified viewers. One woman said her baby wouldn't stop crying, while another said that her cat committed suicide upon seeing Thomas' hideous visage.
The BBC immediately issued an apology and replaced the show a picture of a dancing horse.
DJ Tommo was returned to his rightful place presenting late-night radio and the public have been told that there will be no more incidents such as this in future.
