Furby Flu hits UK

Funny story written by Professor Poofenstein

Friday, 3 July 2009

A new panademic? After Bird Flu and Swine Flu outbreaks across the world, a new flu has been discovered in the UK - Furby Flu.

The first case of this flu was found in the southern island of the Isles of Scilly where the first human had contracted the flu. Mr Hugo Popalopodos is being treated in hospital and doctors say he will have a speedy recovery, but if left untreated, it could be serious.

Furby Flu Symptoms

Symptoms included are, drunkeness, aggression, crazyness, diarrhea, vomiting, eye lashes over growing, cravings for Jaffa Cakes, odd speech.

Experts think that other people on the island can easily catch this flu, and if nothing is done about it, can spread across seas into mainland UK and then even across the world.

The Cause

Furby flu has been started by, of course, the Furby. The famous 90's 'owl like' toy has made a come back. Furbies have been spotted around the Isles of Scilly by many locals. One local, Mrs Shananigans said " I was taking my dog on a walk near the sea, then I noticed a furry creature in the distance, I picked up my dog and slowly approached it, then saw it has fluffy pointy ears and huge eyes with very long lashes before it managed to escape from my sight"

Other locals have given the same sort of description and investigators have even managed to pick of excrement from the creature showing the DNA of a Furby and a bacteria which is causing people to become ill.

What can be done?

Professor Blobby from the University Of Furby Science tells us "the only way of making sure this flu does not spread is to get rid of every Furby, even one which was purchased in the 1990s is still prone to cary any bacteria. Wash hands regularly and if you spot any unusual furry creature, warn your neighbours imeddiatly".

From one flu to another, we can only follow what the experts say and make sure we do not have another world wide crisis caused by these...cute, fluffy, puppy dog eyed, creatures.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
