Reports emanating from Fratton Park appear to suggest that Portsmouth FC are prepared to offer bitter local rivals Southampton £10 million for St Mary's Stadium. It is a move which will clearly infuriate Saints fans, but a bloke in a suit coming out of Fratton Park told us:
"It would make sense. We desperately need a new stadium and they're about to go out of existence. Admittedly, £10 mil is considerably less than they paid for it. But they've been docked ten points, there's a recession on and they need the money. Beggars can't be choosers."
Fan reaction was unanimous:
"We'll kill em if they come over here," a Saints fan told us.
"We'll kill em if we go over there," a Pompey fan retorted.
"Scum!" they yelled at each other.
