Liberal Democrat economic spokesman, Vince Cable, caused upset and embarrassment amongst other members of the House of Commons this afternoon when, after he had visited the gents toilets, it was discovered he had laid a huge 'cable' - and not bothered to flush it away!
Cable, the MP for Twickenham, refused to comment when the Speaker asked him to explain.
It was Cable who led the Lib Dems before current leader Nick Clegg was elected leader, and some in the party think that the 65-year-old's lack of toilet training, may have counted against him when his colleagues were making that vote.
Another former leader, Sir Menzies Campbell, said:
"He's a lovely bloke, but his shit stinks!"
