Details of emails which smeared the reputation of several top Tories have been released. Labour MPs, however, are denying their validity.
According to the Sonday Timmes, the smear messages in the emails include:
- Spreading rumours about the shadow chancellor George Osbore and an incident with a rubber doll at the yearly swingers bash.
- Challenging David Cameron about claiming expenses for his haircut for the event
- Accusing a Tory MP of promoting his partner's sex business interests in the Commons prior to the event.
Shadow home secretary Chris Gayling branded the stories "blatant lies cooked up in Downing Street but recommended the rampant rabbit as he had bought his partner one for easter" but was delighted as he was left with Mandelson again at the yearly bash.
Mid Bedfordshire MP Nadine Dorriss confirmed she was among four Tories featured in the emails, and called for the Prime Minister to say sorry after he failed to turn up at the yearly swingers party as she had selected him.
"I would also like to know how Gordon Brown would feel if a rubber doll was selected ahead of his wife at the swingers party"
The special adviser's resignation was finally announced just before 5pm, with Mr Brown insisting there was "no place" in politics for such mater and ensured he would attend next years bash in his Birthday suit and that the new advisor would keep him informed of all such events.
